Passengers Face Ticket Torture

Got a rock-bottom price for that summer vacation airline ticket you just bought? Better check again.

The one-way-based-on-a-round-trip ticket price you see advertised in the newspaper should really be viewed as the base sticker price, considering all the fees and fuel charges airlines are tacking on these days.

Taxes and fees make up between 12% and 20% of the final price of a typical round-trip leisure travel ticket for flights within the U.S., and fuel alone can add up to 50% to the advertised price.
