International Airfares Soaring

04 September 2008 - International airfares paid by business travelers have skyrocketed this year, according to new industry figures. The trend is expected to continue for the remainder of 2008 and into 2009 as airlines cut capacity to account for weakening demand and offset higher jet fuel costs. Though crude oil prices in recent weeks have declined sharply from the record highs seen earlier this year, they remain significantly higher than last year's levels and continue to pressure airlines.
